Take a break from San Jose downtown and get ready for a different kind of fun at Jaco beach with this action-packed canyoning adventure. Soar through the rain forest on ziplines, rappel down tropical waterfalls, and scramble down a rocky riverbed. No experience is required, as expert guides are on hand to ensure a safe and unforgettable romp through Costa Rica’s natural playground.
Your breathtaking adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in San Jose. From here we’ll drive through the wonderful Costa Rican countryside before arriving at our first stop. The Tarcoles River is home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the wild, which we can easily admire from the bridge. Continuing the tour, we’ll take just 20 minutes before we reach Jaco for a canyoning experience you won’t forget!
After fueling up with an authentic Costa Rican meal let’s hop in our 4×4 safari vehicles and drive up the mountain over 1000′ to get to our private reserve. Your guide will stop along the way to point out interesting flora and fauna and the incredible views of the ocean and countryside. When we arrive at the top you will be outfitted with the latest and safest gear from Black Diamond in the USA. You will be instructed on the safe and proper use of our equipment before a 5-minute hike to the first zipline. After 2 “zips” over the river we will do a dry training rappel to familiarize you with the proper technique. A short hike down river and we will have some swimming and cliff jumping (4-25′) opportunities if you desire! Now it is time to get wet! 4 rappels through the waterfalls and YOU will do it all on your own. At all times you will be safe and backed up by your guides! After a short climb up we will exit the canyon and hike 15-20 minutes back to the truck. By the time you are finished you can say “I am a canyoneer!” and can check this off your bucket list.
Fun for the whole family – we have taken people from ages 7 – 78 on this exciting excursion. All you need is a little sense of adventure!

TOUR ITINERARY
Your Adventure Begins
We will pick you up at your San Jose accommodation to start your adventure. Our first stop is the Tarcoles River, where we will witness one of the largest populations of crocodiles in the wild. From here we will make our way to our basecamp where you will be fitted with the latest and safest gear. Our hike into the canyon is 5 minutes to the first zipline and your training wall where you will receive instructions and take a "practice run" at rappelling.
Swimming, Cliff Jumping and Rappelling Oh My!
After swimming , jumping into the waterfall or just putting your feet in the refreshing water you will begin the first of 4 rappels through the middle of the waterfall. The fun increases as your skills improve on your descent! We will then hike out of the river to the trail that take us out of the jungle and right back to our truck.
